Description

This 1968 Jeepster Commando was originally ordered as a Deluxe Convertible with the Continental spare tire carrier, and it was repainted Mango Tango under previous ownership. Comes with tan removable hardtop, weather seals were replaced, swing-out rear tire carrier, rear-mounted jerry can, diamond-plate front fender accents, and fabricated rock sliders were also installed. A replacement front bumper was installed following a collision with a deer, and the 6" side mirrors were added to accommodate tubular doors that have since been removed. Rust is visible on the tailgate, and there is lifted paint on the tops of the fenders under the lip of the hood. The truck is equipped with a single exhaust system with a resonator and muffler that exit at the right-rear corner as well as manually locking front hubs and a 4" suspension lift with Alcan Spring leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The seating surfaces were reupholstered in factory-style basketweave black vinyl in April 2023, the seatbelts and carpeting, fenderwells, and fuel filler cover were replaced at the same time. Also included are roll bars, a fire extinguisher, and black rubber floor mats, and the truck has a factory center console. Power is routed to all four wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The 12-gallon fuel tank, sending unit, filler, and vent tubes were replaced in 2021. This Jeepster won “Best in Show” at the Iowa All Breeds Jeep Show in September of 2021, and it was driven to Moab, Utah in April 2022. A replacement 231ci “Evenfire” V6 with HEI components, a Holly Avenger carburetor, and a Painless Performance wiring harness. It is also equipped with disc brakes, power steering, tubular exhaust headers, an engine block heater, and a lifted suspension with Alcan springs as well as a three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, manually locking front hubs, Bluetooth speakers, a rear-mounted jerry can, a receiver hitch, amber fog lights, and diamond-plate front fender accents.
